The nineties, a civil war in Sierra Leone. Danny Archer (DiCaprio) is a diamond smuggler. After one of his unsuccessful jobs, Danny has major problems. He comes across a father (Hounsou) who is trying to find his family. Solomon seems to be Archer's lifeline. They join forces and set out to find a diamond that could save Archer's life and Solomon's family. Two completely different men travel across dangerous lands with Maddy (Jennifer Connelly), a journalist who helps them.
A great plot which is mainly built around one serious problem in Africa. Until now, diamonds from the Third World are illegally exploited. Finally, movie shows an incredible African landscape which cannot be missed. I definitely recommend watching this film. :)
